In 2015, Nik Hill Photography and Neil Smith Photography become Acorn Studios. Two people who's friendship and love of photography has spanned over 30 years. We have always believed that moments we capture through our lens of your nearest and dearest belong to you and not just to the people that can afford hundreds and hundreds of pounds to spend on photographs.
It is this ethos that Acorn Studios built on. However, there is a spanner in the works. Hows does a photographer make a living from photography when he gives away his images! Does the photographer raise the price of the shoots! Does the photographer expand into other services and offerings! Or adopt the standard industry model of retaining copyright and selling prints! Is there a halfway point where we can offer cheaper shoots and prints with an option to sell the copyright! Whats the balance to get this right for everyone?
OK, heres the crux of the problem. Although our feedback and reviews tell us we are doing everything right! Our studio is operating at only 15% of it's capacity. Yes, 15%!
If we want to continue operating a copyright free service we need to up the capacity to 50% - thats a threefold increase in studio bookings. That way, we can all pay our bills and sleep soundly knowing we are providing a solid and worthwhile service to our community. As with all things, if you don't use it you loose it.
This is why we are reaching out to you! We need you to tell us what you want from Acorn! A bit more of this, a little less of that or whatever you feel we can do to add not only value to our service but also add more quality for you!
In conclusion, according to our statistics, we are the number 1 recommended service in this area on social media. We have more 5 star reviews than photographers that have been trading for years. We have the enviable reputation of being able to connect with children and get the very best from them in a studio environment. We are one of the only, if not, the only, studio that doesn't cap the maximum number of images we supply per shoot. We are able to supply some of the highest end printing services for the lowest cost outside of the internet.
When you have all these positives going for you, it's hard to see what else you can do to connect with your audience and make Acorn Studios a local institution that sticks it's fingers up to the high priced photography paradigm we have all become accustomed to. We need you to help us make that happen.
